We embraced the spirit of community and connection today as we recognised R U OK? Day, a national initiative dedicated to encouraging open conversations about mental well-being. Students and staff were invited to wear yellow, creating a lively atmosphere that underscored the importance of checking in with your family and friends. A delicious morning tea featuring finely crafted yellow cupcakes courtesy of our Year 12 students also added a special touch.
This year, we shifted our focus to not only asking someone else if they were ok, but also reflecting on gratitude. In PCG, our students discussed not only what gratitude means, but were asked to find something or someone they are grateful for in their lives. Someone or somewhere that offers them peace, acceptance and harmony. Their reflections were written on yellow smiley faces to reflect the day and collated visually as a school community.
In addition to recognising R U OK? Day, the day also featured our World’s Greatest Shave, a spirited fundraiser that saw teachers and Year 10 to 12 students step up to shave their heads in solidarity for our Year 7 superhero Archie. All funds raised from the event will go directly to supporting Archie and his family on their journey to recovery.
In a special episode of the Fox Office podcast, our Vice Principal Mrs Briggs was joined by her children Ava, Jessie and Cameron to discuss the importance of R U OK? Day. Listen to the episode via Spotify or Apple Podcasts. Visit the links below to listen or search “Fox Office” in both apps.
