ECU Immersive Experience

In an unforgettable excursion, our Year 9, 10, and 11 students recently embarked on an enriching journey to Edith Cowan University (ECU). This adventure was not just a simple visit; it was an immersive experience that left our students inspired and motivated.

The evening commenced with a guided campus tour led by Chris from Future Student Services. As we explored the ECU campus, students were introduced to the many of opportunities on offer.  The campus, with its vibrant atmosphere, left a positive lasting impression.

Following the campus tour, our students gathered at Café 6 for a meal, providing them with an opportunity to socialise and connect with their peers. It was a moment of camaraderie and bonding that added to the overall experience.

The highlight of the excursion was undoubtedly the lecture on Wellbeing and Mindfulness, conducted by postgraduate students and expertly delivered by Trudy Bates. This interactive session resonated deeply with our students, sparking their interest and curiosity. During the lecture, students were organised into groups, where they collaborated to craft their own “wellbeing wheels.” This exercise not only showcased their creativity but also allowed them to share their insights into mindfulness. A special shoutout goes to one of our students for designing the most impressive wellbeing wheel and earning a box of chocolates as recognition for their outstanding effort.

In another engaging activity, students were tasked with constructing a paragraph debating whether mindfulness is merely a corporate gimmick designed to boost productivity. This exercise placed them in a university lecture setting, giving them a taste of campus life and academic discourse.

Meadow from Year 9 summed up the experience perfectly: “I really enjoyed the night, and I thought it was a great experience. I loved getting involved with all the Uni students, hearing all of their different views and subjects because of their diverse ages and cultures.”

Thank you to Edith Cowan University ECU for providing such an enriching experience.
