Our very own Ebony shines in WA Youth Jazz Orchestra performance

The WA Youth Jazz Orchestra’s Northern Corridor Training Band (WAYJO NC), featuring our very own Ebony R delivered an electrifying performance to a sold-out crowd at the Ellington Jazz Club.

Comprised of high school-aged musicians from 19 different schools across Perth, the band showcased their burgeoning talent through a dynamic repertoire featuring classics from jazz legends like Count Basie, Sammy Nestico, Benny Carter, and Lennie Niehaus. Under the guidance of saxophonist and WAYJO alum Jessica Herbert, the band captivated the audience, demonstrating the high level of skill and dedication required for the WAYJO NC program.

WAYJO NC was created to cultivate the talents of emerging musicians with a passion for big band jazz. The program is specifically designed for high school students to refine their big band skills with the goal of successfully auditioning for one of the main WAYJO bands or pursuing higher music education.

Congratulations Ebony! We are incredibly proud and look forward to seeing you shine again soon!
