Accounts & Payroll Officer
St James’ Anglican School is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Accounts & Payroll Officer to join our team in a full-time capacity.
This key role is responsible for delivering accurate and compliant payroll services while supporting broader accounting and administrative functions within a dynamic school environment. Acting as the first point of contact for payroll enquiries, you will play an integral role in ensuring staff are paid correctly and on time, in accordance with relevant legislation, enterprise agreements, and statutory requirements.
About the Role
You will manage end-to-end payroll processes, including timesheet verification, leave management, superannuation, and statutory reporting (including Single Touch Payroll). In addition, you will assist with month-end accounting tasks, maintain accurate records, and support audit and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and efficiently in line with legislation and awards
- Maintain payroll data, records, and reporting requirements
- Manage leave entitlements, payroll queries, and end-of-year processes
- Support accounting functions and month-end activities
- Ensure compliance with ATO, superannuation, and regulatory obligations
- Provide professional support to staff and external stakeholders
- Facilitate the systems and processes for the external recruitment, selection and induction of academic and non-teaching staff.
Other Responsibilities
- Accounting and month-end support to the Business Manager.
- Process workers compensation applications and submit relevant documentation to insurer.
- Other duties, which may arise as reasonably determined by the members of the School Executive Team or Business Manager.

You will bring strong payroll knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a confidential and fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and a commitment to accuracy and customer service are essential.
