Adventure filled week for Year 9 students on Outdoor Education camp

The Year 9 cohort enjoyed a week of amazing weather on their Outdoor Education camp to end Term 1 in 2024. Beginning their experience at Boya Quarry, they then spent two nights at Ern Halliday in Hilarys before finishing their camp with an overnight stay at Rottnest Island.

The students participated in a packed itinerary which included abseiling, orienteering, flying foxes, snorkelling, surf lessons, beach games and assisted in the rejuvenation program at Sorrento Beach in conjunction with the local council.

Students experienced the thrill of abseiling and the flying fox at Boya Quarry through to some unbelievable snorkelling at Salmon Bay. Our students experienced opportunities to challenge themselves while building relationships.

Students prepared and cooked all of their own meals on a Trangia, constructed their own tents and carried all of their belongings on two hikes in preparation for their expedition in Margaret River next year as Year 10’s.

The spirit and care throughout the entire group was brilliant with new friendships formed and existing ones strengthened.

The students demonstrated excellent progress in their camp skills with some impressive efforts in their food preparation and sound management of their own equipment which ultimately led to an enjoyable week for everyone involved.

We’d like to congratulate the entire year group on their effort throughout the camp and extend thanks to Mrs Hudson, Mrs Syme Miss White, Miss Haywood, Miss Clape Holt, Mr Penno, Mr Brown, Mr Sarolea, Mr Brown, Miss Boylan and Miss Sarolea for their work throughout the program.
