On Wednesday 1 May, twelve girls from Years 5 and 6 embarked on an exciting journey to Kingsway Reserve to represent St James’ in the Schools Sport WA Girls Soccer Competition. It was a historic moment for St James’ as it marked the first time the School participated in such an event, igniting an atmosphere of anticipation and enthusiasm among the team.
The girls showcased remarkable skill and teamwork, winning all three matches in the group stage while conceding only one goal. This impressive performance propelled them into the semi-finals, where they demonstrated resilience and determination. Though they took an early lead, narrowly missing advancing to the final stage, ending their journey in the semi-finals.
Despite this, their achievement in reaching this stage in their inaugural appearance is truly commendable. Adding to the pride of the team, Harriet L secured the prestigious ‘Golden Gloves’ award, recognising her as the best goalkeeper in the competition.
We celebrate the accomplishments of our Junior School soccer team and eagerly anticipate their continued success in future competitions.
